The Whiteness Oral History Project

Saint Boniface Felling the Sacred Oak by Christian Wilhelm Ernst Dietrich. Circa 1750-1770.

The Whiteness Oral History Project documents ways in which people with European ancestry are working to unravel Whiteness and end white supremacy. Narrators name the losses of assimilation and ways they are rediscovering to reconnect to body-centered and earth-honoring traditions. The collection will be archived at The Tamiment Library and Archives.

This community-funded project serves as an extension of Sady's liberatory principles and antiracist aspirations by fostering dialogue and understanding around Whiteness and the development of racial identity among white/multiracial-identifying people.

This is a companion project to the awarding-winning oral history / public history / digital humanities project, Crossing Borders, Bridging Generations, which Sady led at the Center for Brooklyn History.
